Block Scheduling

After two years of discussions and research, the Vinalhaven High School is happy to be trying out a modified block schedule this year.  This schedule allows for one block period per week for each High School class (except 7th period).  The intent is to give students and teachers the class time to carry out longer, more in depth activities that can’t normally be completed in a 45 minute class period.  The first trial modified block took place Nov. 5-9, 2007.  This week gave the students and teachers an opportunity to see how the block schedule works.  After, what we feel was, a successful first week the High School had decided to carry our four more trial block weeks the rest of the school year:

Jan. 14-18

Jan. 21-25

Mar. 17-21

May 19-23
